I definitely agree that social media like Facebook and Instagram are easy ways to connect with family that you don't get to see a lot like you mentioned how you have family in another country. I also agree with the negative effects social media has on us that you talked about because I definitely am one of those people that uses twitter and Facebook during class and even though I know it's not good to do, it's just a bad habit that I have as well as so many other people.
I agree with what you're saying about it being quick and easy to stay in touch with family and friends when you're far away from them! I like what you said about it being a distraction during class, because that is a major issue nowadays in classrooms across the globe. Like you said, uploading pictures of inappropriate things can definitely be an issue. People really need to filter what they say and/or post on the Internet, especially college aged kids. It won't look good when they're trying to apply to a job and have to undergo background checks and whatnot on their social media sites.
